What is Iboga?

Iboga is a plant native to West Africa that has been used for centuries in traditional spiritual and healing practices. It is a shrub that grows in the rainforests of Gabon, Cameroon, and the Congo, characterized by its thick, leathery leaves and small, orange-colored fruit. The root bark is what is used in ritual and ceremony.

The use of Iboga has a long history in traditional African spiritual communal, and healing practices. The Bwiti, an indigenous cosmogony originating in Gabon, considers Iboga as a sacrament and a tool for connecting with the ancestors, understanding oneself, and healing.

Scientific research for several decades has shown that ibogaine, one of the main alkaloids found in Iboga, is incredible at rewiring the brain and removing patterns of addiction and mental illness. Ibogaine is the most recognized in the West, but it is important to note there are other alkaloids in Iboga that play a vital role in the healing nature of the plant. 

To use Ibogaine alone is not nearly as effective as using Iboga, and to extract Ibogaine from Iboga damages the spirit of the plant. How do you expect to fully heal when working with a damaged spirit?

The experience of taking Iboga can be intense and transformative, leading to deep introspection, self-discovery, and emotional release. It's important to have experienced Ngangas there to work on the many levels Iboga opens up. Traditionally it takes over 20 years of training before you can administer Iboga to someone. You can not learn the Bwiti in a few months or just a few years, this takes decades to have the experience necessary to admister Iboga. 
 
 Iboga is more powerful than ibogaine, but the Iboga in the context of the Bwiti is a million times more powerful than Iboga alone. The Bwiti creates a safe environment, works with the forces of nature and the lineage itself to heal on all levels. You can not approach this level of healing working with iboga or ibogaine alone.
